Last night we had family home evening and it was about our blessings and being thankful for them. Well we were talking about being thankful for our homes and the things inside them, and then I asked Ethan what would we do if we didn't have a home or any of the blessings inside of it. And he said "we would just be drunk", Dave and I looked at each other and said what the heck does that mean. Well then Ethan went on to say, "we would be drunk and sleep in sleeping bags and be like the bums on the streets." Here in Vegas there are a ton of homeless people all over, even in store parking lots trying to get money from you. So I guess he has really noticed them. Dave and I had to laugh at that. But then I asked him again later, and he said "we would just pray to Heavenly Father and Jesus and ask them for a home and stuff that we need, and then they would just give it to us." I told him that sometimes it is not that easy. It is so cute that kids are so innocent and don't know what goes on in that scary world out there. I wish I could keep my kids in our home and they would never have to know the evils of the world. In our family home evening we wrote down our blessing on pieces of fruit(and ethan drew pictures of his blessings) and then we put the fruit in a cornucopia. Ethan had three pictures, on one it was a picture of him and his dad, on the other it was Ethan and mom, and the other was Ethan and Hannah. I was so impressed that he listed his family instead of material things. I am so proud of him! I always think that he never pays attention to the lessons, and doesn't remember what we are trying to teach him, but then he always surprises us. I am so thankful for the little family home evenings that we are trying to have and the spirit that comes from that. I hope that it will make us a better family, and to help teach our kids about the gospel.
