TRUNK OR TREAT!!

This past weekend our ward had a trunk or treat. Ethan and Hannah were so excited!! We carved some pumpkins to decorate our car, and Ethan had so much fun doing that, we even let him carve his very own. We had a really fun evening with our friends in our ward. They had chili and hot dogs and homemade rootbeer, and then all the kids went trick or treating! They even had a haunted house set up in the parking lot, Ethan and his friend Sam wouldn't dare go, so my friend and I took Hannah and Lucy!! Hannah was so excited about all the candy, her pumpkin was so full and heavy she could hardly lift it, but she freaked out when I tried to carry it for her, so she dragged it all over!! It was lot's fun!! The kids are looking forward to Halloween this week!!

Ethan and Hannah sitting in the back of our car waiting to go have dinner!

Hannah and her friend Lucy

We tried to get some pictures of us and the kids, but this is the only one we got, because they didn't want to hold still at all.

Hannah was so excited for all her candy, the first thing she had to have was a sucker, you can kind of see it in her mouth.

Ethan and his friend Sam had to sit in the car and go through all their candy, and ate like half of it.

Here is Ethan and his little pumpkin that he carved all by himself, he was so proud. He kept saying "mom, everyone is going to ask who made this, and I will say me! They won't even believe that I did it all by myself!!" What a nut!!

Here is a close up of his pumpkin, notice he drew hair all around it, and he even had to draw a bum on the back! He cut out ears on the side too! Dave and I got a good laugh, he didn't want to stop carving out things, and we told him it was going to be ruined if he didn't stop! He had so much fun doing this, this is actually the first year he has really gotten into carving the pumpkins!!

He said WHAT?!?!?

So today something happened that I have been dreading but knew would eventually happen! You know all those posts about how I just hate the thought of my son starting school and sending him out in this evil world where he will be taught bad things and will no longer be my innocent little boy? Well today, my fears came true!! He came home and told me that a kid in his class taught him a new word, but the teacher said it was bad and that they shouldn't say it. So we asked him what that word was, and he said "What the f-word"!! Dave and I were like WHAT!!!!! What did you just say?!?! So we had to have a little sit down and discuss how that was such a really bad word, and that we should never say that word ever!! My poor little innocent boy, he has never heard that word until today, and didn't realize how bad it was!! Dave and I just hope that he will remember what we told him and that he will never use it!! I can't believe it is already starting and he is only in kindergarten!!! I pray everyday that we can teach our kids to know right from wrong and always choose the right and that they will always remember what we teach them and never stray!! It is such an evil world out there and peer pressure is so strong!! You can be from a strong religious family and still give into the temptations of the world and fall so far away, I have seen it happen to my brother and what it has done to my parents and I just pray so hard everyday that, that won't happen to my kids!! It also doesn't help by living in Vegas, where your the only LDS kid in your class!!

Ethan and his cousin Hailey had fun picking up sticks or flowers and putting them in the water

Ethan loves being in SLC, with our families!
The kids and I went to Utah for a week while Dave was at a two week course in Tucson! We had so much fun visiting with our families and the kids loved playing with their cousins. I forgot my camera so I wasn't able to take any pictures, so Dave's parents sent me a disk with the pictures they took so I could post them on my blog. My sister in law from Phoenix was able to come into town also, so all the cousins were able to be together and they always have soooo much fun together. We love the opportunities we have to go visit with family in SLC, we have had several this summer and we have enjoyed everyone of them sooo much!!!

Baby Tag

I usually don't really care for tags, but I saw this one on someone else's blog and thought it was fun to read, plus I just haven't really had anything to blog about lately! And I needed a new post! So I hope you enjoy!

1- Where were you when you first found out you were pregnant?
With Ethan and Hannah both- I was at home when I took the test, but confirmed it at the Doctors office.

2-Who was with you?
With Ethan and Hannah both- Dave was with me at home, but I went by myself to the Dr.

3-How did you find out that you were pregnant?
With both Ethan and Hannah- I took a test and there was just barely a hint of a second line, so I was still a little unsure, so I called my dr. and they said to come in and they would test me. So for Ethan they just had me take a pregnancy test there and that one showed a definite second line, and with Hannah they instantly drew my blood and the dr. called me at home later that night to confirm that I was.

4- What was your first reaction to finding out you were pregnant?
Well with both of them we were sooooo excited because we had been trying for quite awhile, so it was definitely an exciting moment for both!!

5-Who was the first person you told?
With Ethan- we gave a present to our parents that contained a baby bib that said I love my grandma and grandpa, and they immediately knew and started crying and were so excited for us!
With Hannah- we had Ethan call and tell everyone that he was going to be a big brother!

6-Did you plan to get pregnant? Yes, but not exactly when we wanted. 3 years for Ethan, and a year and a half for Hannah

7-Was everybody happy for you? Yes, our families were so excited for us, especially since we had been trying for so long.

8-Did you want to find out the sex? Of course! Like I could wait 9 months!!

9 What was the sex? 1st one was a boy, second one was a girl

10-Did anyone throw you a baby shower? Who? Yes-for Ethan,my family, Dave's family, my work, and our ward. And for Hannah, my friends and our ward!

11-Did you get any outfits at the baby shower that you just knew you weren't going to put on your baby? Yes, I am very picky when it comes to dressing my kids!

12-How much weight did you gain? 28lbs with both kids

13-Did you lose all of the weight that you gained? Yes

14-Did you get a lot of stretch marks? I did not get any, thank goodness!!!

15- What did you crave the most? Anything weird? I did not really crave anything with either one.

16-Who or what got on your nerves the most? People rubbing my belly, and wanting to feel it kick!

17-Did you have any complications during your pregnancy? No

18-Did you have any complications during you delivery?
With Ethan, I was in labor for 24 hours and almost had to have a c-section, but the doctor ended up yanking him out with forceps at the last minute, and I ripped from one end to another(sorry to be so graphic)! It took the doctor an hour to sew me back up! I could hardly move or walk after that! With Hannah, I had to have a c-section because of what happened with Ethan, and I loved it so much better!

19- Where were you when you went into labor? With Ethan, I was at home and woke up around 4 am having contractions. And with Hannah, I had a scheduled c-section.

20- Did your water break? With Ethan, the doctor broke my water, and again with Hannah I had a c-section.

21- Who drove you to the hospital? Dave

22- Did you go early or late? With Ethan I was 4 days past my due date, and with Hannah I had her a week and a half early.

23- Who was in the room with you when you gave birth? Dave, and the doctors and nurses

24- Was it video taped? With Ethan, I had Dave start videoing after he came out. And with Hannah, he video taped the whole c-section.

25- Did you have any drugs for the pain? Heck ya!!! Epidural for both!!

26- What was your first reaction after giving birth? I couldn't believe I had just had a baby, and that it was mine!

27- How big was the baby? Ethan was 7lbs. 1 oz. 21 1/2 inches long- Hannah was 7lbs. 9 oz. and 19 inches long.

28- Did your Husband cry? I can't remember, I don't think so, Dave doesn't ever cry!

29- What did you name the baby? Ethan David Holbrook, and Hannah Lee Holbrook

30- Did the baby have any complications? Ethan didn't really have any complications, he had a hard time warming up and had huge purple bruises on the sides of his head from the forceps. And Hannah had the cord wrapped around her head but it wasn't causing any problems, infact the dr. teased that she was definitely a girl because she came out wearing a neclace!

31- How old is your baby today? Ethan is 5 years old, and Hannah is 1 and a half years old.

32- When is the next one coming? Who knows!!!

33-If you could, would you do it all over again? Absolutely!!!!

I am not tagging anyone, because I know how well everyone loves being tagged, so if you want to do it, go for it, I would love to read it!!!

Ethan's First Field Trip

Ethan and his friend Sam, and his assigned "buddy" from his class.

Hannah and her little friend Lucy

Ethan found his own pumpkin and picked it by himself

Hannah even found her a little "pu-kin"

Ethan and his classmates out in the patch trying to find the perfect pumpkin

Hannah had so much fun in the pumpkin patch, and playing in the dirt.

Hannah had to carry her own pumpkin the whole time

Another shot of Ethan and his classmates trying to find a pumpkin.
So this past Wednesday, Oct. 1st, Ethan's kindergarten class got to go on their first field trip. It was to Gilcrease Orchards, which has a pumpkin patch. The kids got to pick out one pumpkin and a pint of apple cider that is made there. Hannah and I got to go with him. Ethan was so excited because his class was going with the morning class, so that mean't that he was going to be able to go with his friends from our ward. He was even more excited that he was going to get to ride on a cool school bus for the first time, and he wasn't going to have to ride in a carseat. My friends from the ward and I followed the buses out there and met the kids and were able to be there with them. It ended up being not so much fun for me, I was assigned a group of kids from Ethan's class to look after, and they were running all over and I had to chase them around, and had to chase my own daughter all over the place, and not to mention that it was in the 90's. So I didn't enjoy it that much, but oh well as long as Ethan had fun!! When we got back to the school, Ethan ran off the school bus saying "mom, did you see me riding the school bus all by myself?" He just thought that was the highlight of the trip!! Then we took all the kids to McDonalds for lunch! Ethan had such a fun day!!!
