Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We had a fun St. Patrick's Day at our house. A couple of weeks ago, Ethan came home from preschool, saying he wanted to make a trap to catch a leprechaun. So over the course of the last couple of weeks, that is all he has talked about and he has been trying to come up with a plan for a trap. So Dave and Ethan made a trap out of his tinker toys. Ethan set the trap out Sunday night in hopes of catching a leprechaun. He was so excited and kept saying "Mom, can I keep him, when I catch him?" He was coming up with all these ideas on what he and this leprechaun would do. So, the next morning, he was so excited, yet disappointed. He was so excited that the leprechaun had been to our house, there were tiny green footprints all around and the cage had been tipped over, and the leprechaun had left him a card, gold chocolate candy, and a magical gold coin(dave had a gold sachajawea coin-not sure how to spell that.). He just kept saying "I can't believe he was really here" over and over again. I was just cracking up. So then he decided he needed to make his trap better for next year, and he is already working on it. Later, I caught him in his room wishing on his magical gold coin. He was wishing that the autobot transformers would come to life, so he could play with them. What a nut! So then he came to me and said "Mom, that leprechaun is a CHEATER!!! This coin is not magical, because it is not working. I guess I shouldn't have put that it was magical on the card, I just thought it would make it sound better, and be more exciting, little did I know he would actually try wishing upon it. But, all in all, he was so excited that a leprechaun actually was at our house. It was fun seeing his reaction. We still have the green footprints up, because Ethan does not want me to take them down. Holidays are so much more fun when you have kids.

Here is the card, and the gold candy, I went to several different stores, trying to find the gold chocolate coins, but I couldn't find them, so I did Rolo's. He still thought that it was cool.

Here are the footprints of the leprechaun, and the cage tipped over

Here is Ethan, that morning with his card and magical coin.

Kristy, you are so creative. Ethan is so cute. I can hear the disappointment in his voice about the coin not being magical. He's a "silly pilly" as Hailey would say (that's one of her favorite sayings lately). I wish I could be creative like that. How fun!

Well I think that you are such a good mom,I didn't do anything but put on a couple green shirts, but next year they might get footprints.

PS Matt is turning 30 on the 25 tues so have Dave call him. matt would love it. but you really don't have to. Julie

I love it! What a fun idea! I didn't do anything for St. Patrick's day. I was a big stick in the mud. It's not as much fun when Burke doesn't care either way.

So, I gotta make it up to them by having the Easter Bunny come.
